The honest
teardown.

We went through your store the way a paying customer — and Google — actually experience it. Here's what's working, what's leaking money, and exactly how we'd fix it. Ranked by revenue impact.

The one-line version

Great product, real proof, thin execution. You've earned the trust — the store, the search presence, and the follow-up aren't converting it into revenue yet. The good news: almost every gap is a fast, high-leverage fix, and none of your competitors are running away with it.

UX / UI & Brand

The overall feel
Working

Clean, credible base + strong proof

Pro-golfer testimonials, "10,000+ golfers," a swing-speed demo video and American-made pride give you real credibility most sock brands don't have.

Leaking

The brand doesn't own a visual world

It reads as a competent generic black Shopify template. Your differentiator — grip tech, "walk longer / hit farther" — is told in words, never shown through design.

Fix: a distinct type system and a signature "traction map" that dramatizes the grip. (See the rebuild.)

Leaking

Hero buries the benefit

The hero leads with "Trusted By The Pros on the biggest stages." Your actual promise — "Walk Longer And Hit The Ball Farther" — is hidden in the page title, not the headline.

Fix: lead the hero with the benefit + a dual CTA. Observed on homepage, July 2026.

C

Mobile Experience

Where 70%+ of DTC traffic lives
Leaking

Shop page shows no product images on cards

On the collection page, product cards render name + price only — no image, rating, or swatch. On mobile especially, a buyer can't see what they're buying before tapping in.

Fix: image-first cards with rating, price-per-pair and swatches. Verified via direct fetch of /collections/the-golf-sock.

Leaking

No sticky Add-to-Bag or free-ship progress

Nothing keeps the buy action or the "$X to free shipping" nudge in view as a mobile shopper scrolls a long PDP.

Fix: sticky mobile ATC + a live free-shipping progress bar off your existing $70 threshold.

Verify live

Tap targets, spacing & LCP on device

A few interaction and layout details should be confirmed on a real handset in the meeting.

Fix: we'll run a live mobile pass together — the rebuild is mobile-first by default.

C–

Site Speed

Page weight & Core Web Vitals
Leaking

Heavy PNG product images, no next-gen formats

Key product/hero images are served as large PNGs (e.g. Untitleddesign_58.png) rather than compressed WebP/AVIF — a common LCP and mobile-data killer.

Fix: convert to WebP/AVIF, compress, size responsively, lazy-load below the fold. Asset formats observed via products.json.

Leaking

Default-theme JS & render-blocking

Typical Shopify theme + app stack tends to ship unused JS/CSS that delays interactivity.

Fix: audit app scripts, defer non-critical JS, preload the hero image + fonts.

In the meeting

Live Lighthouse together

We'll run a full PageSpeed/Lighthouse pass live so you see the exact mobile score and the specific opportunities — no guesswork.

Homepage

The first impression
Working

Good conversion bones

Bundle-and-save (3/6/12), testimonials, the swing-speed video, and made-in-USA are all the right ingredients.

Leaking

Bundles aren't productized

Savings are stated but there's no per-pair math front-and-center, no "best value" anchoring, and no free-shipping progress to pull average order value up.

Fix: decoy-priced pack cards (per-pair price, "best value" flag) + a progress bar to the $70 threshold.

Leaking

The tech is claimed, not demonstrated

Grip technology / Y-heel are described but there's nothing that lets a visitor feel the differentiator.

Fix: the scroll-triggered traction map + a "vs. a normal sock" comparison. Built into the rebuild.

D+

Collection / Shop

Where buyers choose
Leaking

Cards have no imagery, ratings or swatches

The shop grid shows product name + price only. This is the single biggest on-site conversion leak we found — you're asking people to buy blind.

Fix: image-first cards, star ratings + counts, colorway swatches, savings badges, and quick-add. Verified via direct fetch.

Leaking

No filtering, sorting, or a "find your pair" path

Even with a focused catalog, there's no guided way to choose colorway / cuff / pack.

Fix: lightweight filters + a 30-second fit-finder to guide indecisive buyers to a pack.

Leaking

Thin merchandising of a 5-SKU catalog

With few products, every card has to work hard — right now they don't.

Fix: colorway variants, gift/women's callouts, and a bundle configurator to expand perceived range.

C

Product Pages (PDP)

Where the sale is won
Leaking

Pack choice isn't a live, obvious decision

The pack ladder exists but isn't presented as a single tap-to-recalculate choice with per-pair savings — the #1 AOV lever for a multipack brand.

Fix: a pack toggle that recalculates price, per-pair and savings instantly. Live in the rebuilt PDP.

Leaking

No schema / rich results, thin trust row

No Product/Offer/AggregateRating markup means no stars or price in Google, and the trust signals aren't stacked at the buy box.

Fix: JSON-LD schema + a trust row directly under Add-to-Bag. Schema absence verified on-page.

Leaking

Differentiator not visualized on PDP

The grip story needs to live where the decision happens.

Fix: traction map + comparison strip + review widget with photos on every PDP.

B

Cart & Checkout

The last mile
Working

Shopify checkout + full payment stack

Shop Pay, Apple/Google Pay, PayPal and cards are all enabled — the actual checkout is solid and high-trust.

Leaking

The cart doesn't lift AOV

No free-ship progress in-cart, no one-tap "upgrade to the bigger pack," no post-add cross-sell.

Fix: cart drawer with progress bar + a "swap to 12-pack & save" upsell. Shown in the rebuilt cart.

Leaking

Abandonment isn't recovered

Money that reaches the cart and leaves isn't being followed up automatically.

Fix: the Klaviyo cart + checkout recovery flows (10–20% recoverable). See Retention.

C

SEO & Search Presence

You own your name, you're renting the rest
Working

Real momentum — brand + head term

You rank #1 organically for your brand and already earn ~#9 for "golf socks" (4,400/mo, up from #17), and you're actively running Google Search ads at the #1 ad spot. Most sock startups never get here.

Leaking

You're renting traffic you nearly own

You're paying for the #1 ad on "golf socks" to sit above the organic result you almost hold — ≈230 paid clicks/mo (Semrush est., likely higher) partly defending terms you already rank for.

Fix: shift budget off self-cannibalizing terms; push the organic result to the top so that traffic compounds instead of metering. Semrush, US, July 2026.

Leaking

Page 2 on the buyer terms + no Google Shopping

On what new buyers actually type — "golf socks for men" (#16) and "mens golf socks" (#18) — you're stranded on page 2 while Amazon, FootJoy & Bombas take the clicks. And you have $0 in Google Shopping (no product feed).

Fix: optimize collection/PDP + schema for the modifier terms, and launch a Shopping/PMax feed. Semrush + live SERP.
